Stop: 0x000000ED boot error after xp install

I have a fairly old BioStar motherboard (M6VSB V2.0) and a brand new Maxtor
200 GB HD. I loaded XP Home and things seemed to go well until the reboot
after install. I get the error STOP: 0x000000ED (0x823A1E30, 0xC00000185,
0x00000000, 0x00000000). Message says to disable cahcing and shadowing -
done. Same problem. Knowledge base says it may be a video cared I don't
have. It also says maybe a bad hard drive. Possible but not likely. Any
help is appreciated.

two options:
a) you have a HHDD UDMA and use a wire conection of 40 treats and need one
of 80 treats (change the wire)
b) your system files are corrupted (put de xp cd rom and press r in the
first screen for go in the console...type: chkdsk /r)
