Once a week or so I get a blue screen and the following stop message on start
up:
0X0000008E (0XC0000005, 0XF7C26087, 0XF6ADC1BO, 0X00000000)
emulok1f.sys Address F7C26087 base at F7B70000. Date stamp 3b78d09d.
I have tried bios updateing, driver updateing, memtest and driver cleaner.
P4 1.6, XPsp2, 512M. Any suggestions, Thanks.

To determine what driver is causing the problem I need you to enable driver
verifier.
Steps:
1) Windows Key + R
2) Type in 'verifier' and hit enter
3) Make sure 'Create Standard Setting' is selected and hit next
4) Click on 'Select all drivers installed on this computer' and hit Finish
5) Reboot

There is a possibility that your computer will crash on reboot. If this
occurs hit F8 when rebooting just before the windows logo screen and select
the safe mode boot option. Follow the same steps above but on step 4 choose
'Select driver names from a list'; hit next; check the box next to any
driver where the provider is not Microsoft; hit Finish; reboot.

This will slow the performance of you computer a little while enabled but
will hopefully catch the driver causing corruption. Next time you crash
the blue screen will hopefully say something like
"DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION". If this occurs please send the
corresponding minidump (by default it is at c:\windows\Minidump ) my way.
If you have any questions or I didn't explain something well enough don't
hesitate to e-mail me (remove "online") back. Good Luck,

The fact that the error is intermittent and that it occurs during
startup indicates that it is probably a hardware related problem.

A software (e.g. driver, application program, or Windows component)
problem during startup would tend to be consistent, happening on every
startup.

Can you think of anything that might distinguish between the
successful and unsuccessful startups, such as time of day, how long
the computer had been turned off before the startup, or what else
might be drawing electricity? I had a similar problem with a client
last year. The cause turned out to be an over-stressed electrical
system in his house. If he turned on the computer while something
else was running that drew a lot of electricity (dishwasher, clothes
dryer, electric kettle, etc.) then the machine would "blue screen"
during the bootup. If there was nothing much else running during the
startup the computer would startup without error.

The solution in that case was to install a small UPS for the computer
so as to smooth out the voltage drops.

Not saying that this is the same as your problem, but it does
illustrate the types of circumstances that can cause problems similar
to what you are experiencing.

Good luck
