STOP 0x00000050; system will not boot at all

I am having a similar problem to what I have seen here. I was working
happily when received a BSOD with Page_Fault error message. Suggests the
offending file is NTFS.sys.
System will not boot, always gets same error. Cannot boot into safe mode.
Replaced ram, no difference
Replaced hard drive, tried to install XP. It crashes during setup with same
error.
On new drive, I loaded win 98. It works fine. Again tried to load XP,
crashed with same error.

Any advice is greatly appreciated...
