Stolen One month old Note book with product Key on bottom XP Pro

I just bought a new notebook Jan 8 2007 with Win XP Pro pre installed. It
was stolen on Feb 8. I have the unopened installation CD, but the product
key is on the stolen notebook. I have to buy a new replacement notebook, but
I don't want to have to buy the XP Pro again. How do I get a new product
key, or replacement software package with the key?

I think your best bet is to buy that new notebook with XP Pro already
installed...or at least included.
That installation CD that came with your stolen notebook most likely would
just work on that manufacturers notebook.

Doubtful you will be getting a laptop/notebook without Windows installed
(sold with it.)
And even if you did, the OEM version installed on the original notebook was
attached to that notebook and in accordance with the EULA, no matter what
happened to on or the other - their fates were the same.

If insurance is an issue, the value of the insured includes Windows.
Normally the Windows license is permanently tied to the original computer
regardless the condition of the original computer.
When the laptop was stolen so was the license for Windows.
The CD you have is now a low quality coaster.

Your only hope for a replacement key is with the manufacturer or seller of
the laptop, Microsoft can not help since it is OEM.

The license is part of the other computer and you can't buy it
separately. The license is not bought with the CD.
