Stolen notebook...?

K

Karoz

My notebook was recently stolen from my home. I did not
buy it from a company or store. I bought it from a friend
who got it from a friend and I never thought of writing
down the serial number or any other type of information
like that. I did though buy and install a fresh OS onto
the computer so I do have the Windows XP home cd and key.

I was wondering if there is anyway that once that person
or anyone else accesses the Internet using the notebook
can Microsoft send some kind of command or cancel that
specific OS activation? Disabling them the use of my
notebook.

Thanks

Microsoft is not in a position to do that, and all information
that was sent to them during activation is not personally
identifable. When you or that machine connects to Microsoft
other than for voluntary registration, for things like visiting
Windows Update, it is done anonymously.
