Hi,

I've been disturbed, for some time,
that the modem icon appears erratically.

I found out, by accident, that
displaying the "Network Connections"
window, and "refresh now", brings the
modem icon, to the Taskbar.

And - that clarifys why it doesn't
show, sometimes.
That programs running out of sight,
are stealing so many clock cycles, and
priority, that the OS can't even display
it's taskbar icons.

I run all - of the free spyware/AV
programs y'all recommend in this
newsgroup; when I trust the posters,
and the web pages, sourcing the
offerings; this is a Microsoft Policy
problem.

When Microsoft quits making it
impossibly hard, to learn how to manage
"Windows", without their certified
crypto-mechanics, then it won't
just-and-only be the "hackers", who know
how to make Windows work. to their
benefit.

Ken .

Nothing is 'kept locked away in a vault'.
Microsoft has published many useful books on Windows.
Go to a library and borrow one, or to a bookstore and buy one.

The ignorant can be quickly enlightened.

Hi,

In a long past, (SWTP, DOS2.3),
I've learned that MS books are usually
money wasted.

I am wadeing through :

"Windows XP Under The Hood"

"Windows 2000 Administration In A
Nutshell"

"WMI Essentials, for Automating Windows
Management"

And a couple of others, that are
waiting for me to finish these.

But they're not from Microsoft;
and I'm open to suggestions for smaller
books , with more application, to
getting things working better, with less
reading.

Thanks,
Ken .
