Notification Icons In Taskbar

B

My father is using Windows XP and is having problems with the
notification icons in the taskbar.

When he hovers his mouse over to see the tooltip/controltip/infotip
for that icon, it flashes briefly and then goes away. It doesnt
appear to hide behind the taskbar as many others have reported. I've
also tried disabling and re enabling balloon tips, which didnt help.

I created another temp user and the icons display fine, so I have to
believe its a registry change that needs to be done.

Anyone know how to control the display time for these icons?

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brain,
Hopefully this time will be it <G>, try this:
Open a run command and type in:
regedit.exe click [OK]
On the Registry editor Locate this key:
[-]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify =
Value Name: BalloonTip
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0x00000005 (5) You need to change the Number (5) to this Number
below in Data:
For Value Data:
4 = 4 seconds
7 = 7 seconds
30 = 30 seconds

HTH.
Let us know.
