Still no clue (was: Any Idea? Weird HDD problem)

On June 12 I mentioned here about freezing of the PC while copying files
between HDD's. Later I thought it was the round IDE-cable.
Well, it wasn't.

It has to do with installation, but don't know where to start.
Have one PC, working on XP. Another PC working with ME. Both are connected
to the internet through a router, Sitecom DC202, and to each other.
It seems to work fine, but it doesn't.

Both pc's have a fine connection to the internet. Both pc's are able to list
the files, shared with the other pc.
But:

From the ME-machine, when I list a map from the other machine, everything I
do needs about 2 minutes, before it's done.
I can play MP3, but renaming that file takes ages. Right-click / Rename,
have to wait, than rename, after enter have to wait.
From the list, sort the files by name: have to wait...

Please help

Some (Dutch) person pointed me to here:
http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

Like anybody else, a clean install (ME in my case), than the Via 4-in-1
drivers, than Windows updates, all other drivers needed.
One of those messed up things. This site pointed out that a cleaning the
system from old (not used) drivers and than only the latest, might make the
difference...
It did

Thank you
