STILL NEED XP HELP

IT IS NOW 3:12 AM AND i AM STILL SEEKING THE RIGHT ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME IF YOU CAN.
ERROR COPYING FILE cdrom.inf to C:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\1386\cdrom.in_

I purchased XP today 16hrs ago and tried to install. This error message will not allow me to install it. I even went to a computer repair place and they could not figure it out. They tried another cd but it was not the problem.
