Stickykeys

My pc keeps turning on sticky keys. I have turned this off in control panel
and in the dialogue box that appears but it just keeps turning on and off
randomly.

I reset the sytem to an earlier date and that cures it for a day or two then
back.

I have rune three different virus checkers but they find nothing.#

Try a different keyboard. It sounds like the one you are using has a
stuck key or is otherwise failing.

Thanks Malke but "stickykeys" is a microsoft function under Control Panel ;
Accessability so I am pretty sure this is a soft ware problem

I know that, Peter. However the "stickykeys" function is activated by a
keyboard keypress. If you have a stuck key on the keyboard or the
keyboard is failing, it would cause your problem. Therefore,
troubleshooting triage indicates that you first replace the keyboard to
see if it is defective. Use a spare ps/2 keyboard or buy one - you can
get them for under $10usd. If the problem is resolved, you know the
cause was faulty hardware. If the problem is not resolved, you can look
for the next troubleshooting step. We techs always try and do the
simplest and easiest troubleshooting steps first.

It doesn't sound like a virus to me. Do you have any other third-party
software that might have that sort of accessibility option that you use
occasionally? Something that enables the function? The next time it
happens, open Task Manager and make a note of what is running, both
processes and applications. Here are a few links to where you can look
up what you see:

Also look in Event Viewer to see if there are any clues:

Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [enter]
