Status bar doesn't update

Our office uses Outlook 2000; one user has a problem where his status bar
never updates. It always displays "97 items, 15 unread," no matter how many
messages he has in his inbox. Is there a way to reset this? Thanks!

First thing to check is to see if the user has any filters set on the folder
that might be obscuring items.
