Item numbers, Status Bar lower left

I now use Outlook 2003 via Exchange Server 2003, a part of my
WindowsSmallBusinessServer2003 in my office network.

Over several years and several Outlook versions, I have become used to
seeing the number of contacts, tasks, appointments, e-mails appear at the
lower left of the Status Bar at the bottom of respective windows for these
Outlook features. In my new configuration listed above, that area of the
status bar is blank. Does anyone know how to turn on this "number of items
display" in the Status Bar?
