startup xp

[onesweetwrestler]

I startup xp and after i've entered my password it begins
starting up, but it always tells me that the file paging
is too small and that it creates it's own file paging.
Also after i click ok on the file paging pop up, the
screen locks up and the only way to continue it's startup
procedure is to press ALT-CTRL-DEL, but after that it
starts up fine. running win xp pro sp 1.

Hi,

Did you reduce the minimum size of the pagefile.sys to a figure of less than
the size of the installed ram? If so, you should change your startup and
recovery settings from writing a full memory dump to just a small memory
dump.

I set memory dump to none.
Is there a reason I shouldn't?

Hi Jim,

A memory dump is good for diagnosing a problem, but no good to you if you
can't debug them. You can leave it as is, but if you ever start encountering
system crashes you may want to reenable it.

As to your original issue, try disabling the pagefile, then reboot and
restart it.
