How do I remove an item from the startup tab? It shows a location in the
registry but I can not find it in the registry. Any help would be
appreciated.

1. Open the program and go through its menus and turn off the option to start the program with Windows.
2. Remove program's shortcut from Startup folder.
3. Contact program's tech support for advice on preventing the program from starting with Windows.
4. Uninstall the program.

Don't play around in the registry unless you're absolutely certain what you're doing. You're looking for trouble otherwise.

Hi Steven,

The programs do not exist anymore on my computer yet they still show up as
an item on the startup tab. One of them was malware.

Hi Ramesh,

I used the msconfig cleanup utility and that removed the items from the
startup tab of System Configuration Utility.

Thanks.

You're welcome Ed.

Hey, it works. Not only does it work, I found a way to set this up without needing to edit the registry. The tip came from Daniel Petri's web site

where he points out that TweakUI includes a handy dandy interface for setting up search prefixes. You just choose a prefix and enter the command line. Thanks again Ramesh, for steering me to the path of enlightenment.

Thanks for the feedback, Steven.
