startup sounds

Installed XP Pro one week ago, and have been busy getting
everything close to the old hard drive, I had an issue the
windows cd-burning and finally got it resolved but
changing one of the registry values. Problem now is that
my startup sounds will not work. Went through all problem
solving tool I could fine and finally reinstalled XP
again, and this still did not resolve the issue. If anyone
had an idea I sure would like to try it. Thanks in

See MS Knowledge Base Article 329441 for the probable solution to your problem.
You can disregard the step of reinstalling SP1. Bet you your CD burning suite
is Nero 5!

the motherboard is manufactured by MSI. It had been
playing them up until yesterday, I must have done
something stupid to cause them to quit working. thanks for
your reply.....don
