Sound?

I recently had my hard drives all messed up and finally have everything
downloaded and fixed (I think) except my sound. When I try to play music it's
all garbled and static. No clue how to fix it.

I have a Windows XP and a Dell XPS 400

The disc I reinstalled on my computer that was originally installed (came
with my computer) is Sound Blaster Live 24 bit.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks

Check your wiring jacks to be sure you have the speakers properly connected
to your computer. This can be caused by improper connections.

I never unhooked the speakers. And they were working fine before the "mishap"
LOL with the hard drives. I think there may be a conflict between some
programs but not sure how to figure out which ones?

Ok, when I first got my computer (and up until I had to restore the hard
drives) I used the sound disc that came with the computer, Creative Sound
Blaster 24, and it has always worked. Now when I try to play anything with it
installed the sound is garbled and distorted but if I delete it and just use
sigmatel (Dell download) I have sound but it's really low and I have all the
volume drives at high and the speakers turned as high as they will go. Any
thoughts?

thanks

Type the make and model of your soundcard into google along with the
words "driver download" and look to install the latest drivers.

Did Dell not give you a drivers cd with the computer ?

That's the confusing part, they did. It's SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit but I
think I also have Sigmatel on it too, it's in my control panel and on my Dell
Drivers & Downloads. I'm not sure if both were on before or not. I've tried
deleting them and trying the other but it doesn't seem to work.

Are the speakers add-on speakers with old batteries inside?
