Startup Sounds not working

I noticed a couple days ago...that my startup, log on, log off, and shut down
sounds aren't working. The rest of my assigned sounds work
correctly....What did I do..?

Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices. On the
Sounds tab, make sure that the sounds you want are set to those events.

I have done that...like I said..they used to work....the others work...like
Recycle bin and etc...just the log on and off...and windows startup and
shutdown. Have checked all my settings.they work when I check them

Did you disabled the beep system sound?
If so, enabling it again with TweakUI (General-Beep on errors)

should cure the problem.
