Windows Media Player has suddenly started launching
automatically when I boot, despite the fact that I have
not been using the app recently and it is in NO startup
folder that I can find. Can anyone tell me how to stop
this from happening? It would also be nice to know what
might have caused it to begin happening in the first
place. (I haven't used the app in weeks.)

FYI: I am on an IBM ThinkPad T30 running WinXP
Professional, and when I boot, my DSL app opens and then
waits for a password and a prompt to connect. Media
Player opens BEFORE the DSL app has even asked for my
password, so it would seem safe to say that Media Player's
launch is not web related.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

look very hard at the media player options. it seems like
media player is starting and calling for a dsl connection.
