Startup resolution issue

Hi,

I am having an issue with one of the work systems here - when it starts up,
for some reason it occasionally (ie: not every startup) acts like the monitor
is zoomed in - can use the mouse to move the desktop around. To fix it so far
I've just been logging in with the administrative account and resetting the
resolution however a long term viable solution has yet to be found.

Any thoughts?

Running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Cheers,
Matthew

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the Display adapter device,
Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers
again automatically.

Sorry no dice there. Still having the same issue.

Tried forcing 'Default Monitor' driver, 'Plug and Play Monitor' driver and
the manufacturer driver. Same issue remains.

Monitor is a HP L1703

Make that HP L1706 and seems this isn't a Windows problem....monitor is
reporting a current setting of 640x480 even though it is set to 1024x768.

yep, if it does it plugged into another system, you are probably due for a
new monitor.

Can you swap monitors or video drivers?

I switched over monitor and VGA driver, now just waiting for the problem to
reoccur. I rebooted the system about 10 times over this morning trying to get
the issue to crop up again and it didn't.

Waiting and seeing.
