startup problems

when windows xp prof. starts up, i get between 5-6
different windows looking for an internet connection. i
recently had some problems with adware, and i think these
might still be related to that. i have used both adaware
and spybot to get rid of the major adware problems, but
these are still annoying. they also pop up randomly
during the day when i'm not online. i use broadband when
i'm at school, but i have a dialup at home, so they might
be background programs running that i don't know have
been using the internet all this time. also on startup,
my system32 file opens twice (if you close it right away
the first time, it opens again). please help.

Can't help with your problem, except to say that my HP PC
running Windows XP Home also appears to have 2 copies of
svchost.exe running. Exactly the same details except the
upper & lower case "s" as below.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe
Does anyone know if this situation is OK?
