Startup problems with Windows xp

N

news.verizon.net

Every I boot up with Windows xp I get a lot of garbage on the screen in the
form of unwanted windows that tell me of various programs that are starting
or awaiting to be started, i.e. scanner, Windows Office, Verizon browser,
and several others. When I look at the 'Startup' file, none of these
programs are listed for the boot up. A related problem occurs when I try
and access 'msconfig', I get the following message, memory access violation
in module kernal 32 at 9622:118211232. It's all Greek to me can someone
help me get things back to normal so I can use 'msconfig' to check out the
'startup' file as well as get rid of all the garbage that wants to start
with each boot up.

Dealing with Hijackware

These days most of us are recommending HijackThis to identify and assist in
the removal of these bad guys. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

NB: If you have ever downloaded HijackThis or CWShredder, it is urgent that
you upgrade to the latest versions before using them again. Due to a new
variant of the CWS Trojan, using either HijackThis or CWShredder on an
infected Win98 or WinME computer may lead to severe damage to that computer.
You must update to the very newest versions of these programs before using
either of them again, and you should get a new copy of CWShredder before
each and every use.

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.
