Startup Problems

I run XP Pro. Each time I turn on my computer the Sonic installer tries to
install Sonic. It's been uninstalled in Add and Remove Programs. I did a
search and I can't delete the Sonic files and folders -- they have to be
extracted but I just want them GONE. I used "run" -- msconfig and unchecked
several boxes. I don't know which one is the Sonic one but I hate to have so
many boxes checked for system startup. I went into my Registry and deleted
Roxio and Sonic -- still tried to load Sonic upon every startup.

Does anyone know the "name" for the file path for Sonic??? I do not know
what else to do to get this thing off my computer. I've had FOUR Dell "My
Tech Team" techs try to get rid of it to no avail. Help, please????? Thank
you.

You will have to INSTALL Sonic again restart your computer and then
uninstall.
That should do the trick.

Reinstall Sonic and then uninstall it again.

Did you try here?
http://support.sonic.com/

You could go to Start>Run Type: Regedit Then proceed to
HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Run Folders. Check each one
for the Sonic Entry. Delete.
Same for HKCU>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Run
Folders.

Did you attempt remove through Add / Remove Programs? As said by another
if you have not properly uninstalled you may need to reinstall to remove
it.

I would leave the Registry alone.

To identify what loads when you boot use Autoruns (freeware from
Microsoft).
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from
starting,or you can right click an item and then delete it. If you
uncheck you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer
approach than editing the Registry and better than using msconfig..
Another useful feature of the programme is that you can right click an
item and select Search Online to get information about the item
selected.

Hope this helps.
