Startup problem

when my computer starts up, it starts up fine, and everything looks
fine, everything is on the desktop etc.

However, if i press Ctrl + Alt + Del and check the task manager, there
is no user active, and i cannot open my computer, when i do, it just
searches and searches....and ends up not responding.

I repaired windows, and this seemed to work fine, until i used windows
update and reinstalled everything and the problem reoccured after i
installed internet explorer 7 and rebooted.


I also cannot access the internet using internet explorer 7, but
mozilla works fine. the internet icon does not appear (and it is set
to), however some programs do start up.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

maybe a couple
of freeware from
Microsoft.com could
help. they wouldn't
hurt to use them anyways.

because you mentioned
"user" in your observations,
there is a "user profile hive
cleaner" by Microsoft that
you could tryout.

and because one hive might
be problematic, there
is a hive defragger called
pagedefrg that you could
tryout as well.

Your PC may not like IE7. Mine didn't.
