Dear All,

I posted a note earlier today regarding problems booting
my computer: it either stops on the very first black
screen, no activity at all or I get the following error:

Windows could not start becasue the following file is
missing or corrupt <Windows root>\System32\ntoskrnl.exe
Please re-install a copy of the above file.

I'm running Win XP Home Edition; have tried re-installing
XP and Registry diagnostics all to no avail.

I'm going to call my CPU manufacturer re my hard drive
make to run a diagnostic on that tomorrow but is there
anything else I can do from having this error message?

Thanks in advance,

If all else fails, install a new harddrive with a fresh
install on it, then put that one back in as a slave, and
after it boots up with the good harddrive, go in and pull
off all the info you want to save, then format the old one
and do a complete install........Bill
