Startup Problem

Matt

About last Thursday my PC began to show a blue screen on
startup. The STOP code was as follows:

0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xE181E238, 0xF8984110, 0xF8983E10)

Following the Clean Boot Troubleshooting guide I managed to
isolate the problem to the following two entries in the
WIN.INI file:

[fonts]
[extensions]

However this doesn't tell me much and I'm at a loss as to
what to do next to resolve the problem. I'm strangely
reluctant to use System Restore except as a second-to-last
resort. Anyone able to help in this?

Matt System retore isnt a bad thing.
Do you do proper maintainence?? Check disk defrag? Thats important but will not fix this problem..But you may try
Do you run any anti virus software? And Ad-aware? If not get some
And keep the definitions up to date
If you have run a virus scan and all is clean.
Go ahead and do a restore. Its not a bad thing. But if you have a virus restore will not work as it will be in the retore point as well. Just keep that in mind. Not saying you do...but...We know little about your pc etc

System Restore wasn't needed. Disabling those entries
seemed to disable my sound, so I acted on a hunch and
re-installed my sound drivers. After enabling those entries
again, and multiple restarts to get the SCU to return to
normal statup, the problem appears to be solved.

but thanks anyway :)
