I'm getting a continuous start up shut down on my Win2kPro
laptop. It all began when I reinstalled the OS and
attempted to add the SPs and antivirus software. I tried
to start up in safe mode and Last known good but no luck.
Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks Dave. I'll try these. Any suggestions how to keep
the machine running windows long enough for me to install
the patches? It usually shuts down on me before the
desktop appears.

Found this at ask-leo.com

a.. Press the Start button, and then the Run menu item.

b.. Type shutdown -a. That's the "shutdown" command, with the "-a" option,
which stands for "abort the pending shutdown".

c.. Press OK.

Should give you some extra time, if you can get to Start

The two symantec links explain what you'll need to do towards to bottom of
the page. The solution is probably to download these on another machine then
install them on the affected machine while not connected to any network.

The network download for SP4 is here.
