Is there a way to create a startup or bootalbe diskette for Windows XP?
The computer crashed and the restore disk does not work.
The computer asks for a startup disk.
Thank you for your help.

If you have a WindowsXP CD, it is a bootable disk. When inserted and booted
it will give you a menu of what you want to do, like a repair install or new
install, etc. In that your "C" drive is the default drive for booting your
PC, you
should check to set your BIOS to boot with your CD-Rom drive which
is probably the "D" or "E" drive.

You can create a basic boot disk, but it really isn't going to get you
anywhere, besides looking at the A prompt. But if you really want one, go to
www.bootdisk.com and you'll find what you're looking for.

Have you tried changing your boot sequence to read the CD-ROM
first. The XP CD is a bootable program, once it boots you will be
able to go directly to the setup screen.

The problem is that I do not have the winXP CD, only the restore CD. the
booting process looks into the D: drive but I do not know if the restore CD
is bootable. Any help?

Which brand's restore CD?
I think most Restore CDs are bootable and restores the system to the
factory default mode.
