Until today, when I started the computer (xp), it came up without going to
the Log On. I am the only User. I don't want to have to click my name for
the to start. I don't know why it started doing this today. I didn't do
anything except Update Windows. How can I go back to starting up right to
desk top rather than the Log on Page?

For starters (forgive the pun) click START|CONTROL PANEL|USERS and take a
look at "change the way users log on and off." If that doesn't do it,
other suggestions will be offered. Also see Kelly's link below.

Hi,

I would speculate that one of the updates you installed was the .net
framework. It adds a user account to the system, and thus causes a logon
prompt when the system is rebooted. Click start/run, type "control
userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and click ok. Uncheck the box requiring
a username and password, click apply/ok and follow the prompts to set up a
default logon.

I'm not the original poster, but I just noticed the same thing on my
machine. Is it safe to delete that other account? It's named ASP.NET
Machine A...
What is it needed for?

Hi,

Yes, it's safe to delete.
