Start-up running continously

Sometime within the past few months when I turn on my PC it runs continously.
The only way I can get things working is to turn it off and back on again.
Sometimes this has to be done 2 or 3 times before the boot-up completes. I
have run REGCure, Avast Anti-Virus, and XoftSpySE to check for everything
that could be causing the problem. I have Windows XP Home Edition Ver.2002
Service Pack 2. There are so many options to 'repair' a PC but I'm afraid
that I may pick the wrong one and I can't afford to lose my PC. Any and all
help or suggestions will be appreciated.

yes, it is fortunate
that there are many
options.

one can only imagine
if there were only a
single option, i.e..
format the disk and
then reinstall windows.

unfortunately, your description
is somewhat unclear.

are you trying to explain
that your system reboots
continuously?

if so, then you can use the
recovery console method if
you can obtain a windows cd.

Please clarify what you mean by that. If I turn on my PC, I would hope
my PC runs continuously. The last thing I would want is for it to shut
down on its own! What specifically isn't working the way you would like
it to?
