Ok this is what happened. I turned off my computer one
night and when i turned it on the next morning i got the
error: "Windows could not start because of the following
file is missing or corrupted:
\windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows
setup using the origanal setup cd-rom
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair"
So i did what is said and started the recovery. On
the setup menu i select repair. It whent to the Recovery
consol and i selected my "c:\windows" directory to log
onto. Right after i select it, my computer stops
responding.
So this I decided to try the setup option and right
after i accept the licenes agreement my compter stops
responding again with "searching for previous versions of
microsoft windows..." on the status bar on the bottom. I
really hope someone can help me i really don't want to
reformat my hard drive and start all over, because you
know how hard that is with all your files on your hard
drive. I will try anything to repair my hard drive.
Please. Thank you for your help.

2 if you than cannot boot in
run article 307545 from support.microsoft.com
