Recovery console

When I start my computer with Winxp home, the error message show:
"Windows could not start. The following file is missing or corrupted
\windows\system32\config

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows setup using the
original setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. "

When I restart and access Recovery Console, the command shows c:\windows,
what should I do for the next ?

Could Some one here tell me how to fix this issue with recovery console?

Thanks in advance

At start up,immediatly tap the F8 key, select safe mode, enter as administrator,
in xp install xp cd,exit the menu page,go to run,type:D:\i386\winnt32.exe
/cmdcons
D: being the cdrom with xp cd in it.

This error indicates registry corruption. See these two links, the
