start up problems

whenever i start windows a small window appears saying, Windows Installer
Preparing to install, A second Window Appears saying , Please wait while
Windows configures copy, and then a third Window appears on top saying
Internal Error 2908, I can`t delete these Windows unless i shut down my
computer, any help please
 
Did you install any applications just before this started happening? If so, go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall them;if not, take a look at the 'run once' entry in the registry

- START-->RUN-->type REGEDI
- goto to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnc

See if there are any entries in the right pane window. If there is, then those are the startup installs that are
giving you the problem. You could delete them but I would back up the registry before you do.
