Start up problems....

I have windows XP Home edition. When I go to start up my
notebook (Compaq Presario 2100) I log in with my password
and the music comes on as though it is going through the
normal start up. Then the blue screen appears with
Compaq logo...and then nothing else.

I tried pressing the F8 key at start up and highlighting
the last good time the computer thingy option. No luck.
Anybody know what to do next??

Go back to F8 and select safe mode...
then check the eventlog for errors
