Have a problem with my start up. During the usual checks the pc displays "NTDLR is missing. Press any key to restart".
Pressing any key only results in the same message being displayed.
A hard restart is required.
If i load failsafe defaults in the system BIOS the message is not displayed but my Floppy Drive is now not recognised by the system.
Help please. Have already tried a reinstall of windows XP without any joy.
Idiotproof answers would be appreciated.

Hi

First of all - please do not post in HTML - the headers can contain viruses. Do you mean NTLDR? If so, you need to boot into the Recovery Console. Boot your PC with the XP CD in the cd drive. Select 'To repair..' by pressing 'R'. When in the Recovery Console type the following:

copy X:\i386\ntldr C:\ - where X is the letter of your CD drive and C is the letter of your system drive. Take the XP CD out of the cd drive and reboot into XP normally.
