Start up, mulple OS boot

I had 2 versions of win XP on a computer, and it would ask me which version I wanted to run at start up. Since then I've elmimated one and want XP to stop asking me which version I want to boot. I've even formated the defunct drive, but the message still comes up. Anyone know where exactly this is stored and how to get it to stop?

Open Notepad, then File, Open. Go to your "C" drive and type "boot.ini" in
the file name area.

To back it up, File, Save As. Type boot.bak in the file name area.

Open boot.ini again and delete the line pointing to the OS you want to
remove.

Start>Run>msconfig> boot.ini tab>check all boot paths.
