Start-Up Errors

Hey everyone...randomly one day I was using my Dell Inspiron 600m (Windows XP
SP2) when the computer actually froze up. I turned it off manually and
rebooted to receive the error message: "Windows can not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt: Windows/system32/ntoskrnl.exe". I
tried Safe Mode and I got the same message. So I tried all the fixes.
Repair Installation didn't work. Recovery Console didn't work. But after
running "chkdsk /r" in the recovery console, I now see a different screen
when I boot up:

"STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF823C2E4, 0xF89554E4, 0xF89551E0)

btkrnl.sys - Address F823C2E4 base at F8238000, DateStamp 408d9be9"

If anyone could please help me, I really just want to get on Windows, even
in Safe Mode, to recover my files and music. Then I can run a clean install
of Windows.

Thanks

I do not know if this will help, but it worked for me on another problem.

1. Insert your Windows XP CD.
2. Start up your computer.
3. When it says something like "Boot from CD-ROM - Press any key to begin"
(I don't know the exact words), press any key
4. When it has finished loading, look for "repair".
5. Go through the process of repairing your C: drive.

Sorry if this doesn't work.

Hello. I am shving a serious problem with my computer. With every start
there is a "critical softwrap file error 1". I have tried every cleanup and
defrag there is -- with no success. Now the pictures on the computer are not
clear and it is taking a longer time for the computer to switch to and leave
screens. Is there any help avail?
