Start-up delay 4 minutes...

Hello MVP's...

I have tried, ran, done, attempted..literally all of your
suggestions, and still a long delay after the start
screen / desktop appears. "All Programs"..drop-downs
respond, but programs will not execute/start...this until
a four minute XP interlude..??? Bootvis did
nothing...btw.. I have a start-up log available to
paste, if requested...

Have you checked your event viewer for problems? Have you checked your bios
settings?

Did you install Norton Antivirus ???
Updating NAV2003 with a file downloaded from the Symantec website solved the
problem for me.

Nope.. No Norton.. I'm running Grisoft/AVG. Norton and
my PC didn't jive. Grisoft is free, it updates, and runs
like a dream... **Thanx to the MVP from whom it was
suggested!**
