I am havng a dfficult time trying to number some pages. I have an eight page
document. I want the page numbering to start on th third page with page
number 1. I tried following the instructions in the help menu but it is not
working. Please for your help.

Each section has its own header and footer content, and page number format
and starting value. You'll need to insert a section break (probably
Continuous but maybe New Page) before the third page, so that the material in
the third through eighth pages is in a section of its own.

Let's say the first two pages are then in section 1 and the third through
eighth pages are in section 2.

You can now restart the page number for section 2 at 1. Also, you can edit
the headers and footers in section 1 so that they are empty, or have no page
number in them.

By the way, I think it's best to insert the page number field inline in the
text of the header or footer, not to let Word insert a page number in a
floating frame or text box.

You can insert a page number field inline in the text using the buttons on
the Header/Footer toolbar.

Makes no difference. These ideas apply to Word 2007 as well. The only
difference may be the location of various commands, but there are still
sections etc.

Almost got it to work so I am getting there. OK, I got the third page to
start at number 1 and the next page to be number 2. The problem I developed
is that after the page that numbered 2, which was stated as section 2 I
think, it began showing section 4 and no numbers inserted. How can I get from
the tird page to the last page to be section 2 only so that the numbers flow
continuously?
