start menu/all programs sort?

this is simple, and obsessive compulsive, but I can't
remember how to do it. Prior to a reformat of my
harddrive, Windows XP Pro would automatically sort
my "all programs" list from the start menu
alphabetically. After the reformat, it will not do
that. How do I get the programs list to sort
alphabetically?

Click on Start, Programs, then right click in that list, and then
select Sort by Name.

That should have the effect immediately, but I've noticed that
if you don't reboot and you leave the computer on for a week,
it might forget about it.
