Sort By Name does not alphabetize Start Program list

I am using XP Home SP2. The programs in the Start/Program List do not do a
complete alphabetical sort when I right click and choose Sort By Name. The
first time I did this some of the programs change their alphabetical order
but several of the programs are still out of order. I have clicked Sort By
Name several times and nothing further happens.

Is there a way to have all of the programs listed in alphabetical order?

You could drag them to where you want in the list...

UNK;

Thanks for your reply. I didn't know that you could drag the listing to
reposition them. I will try that. I still don't understand why right
clicking and choosing Sort By Name doesn't work for all of the programs.

Have a great week!

Perhaps there is something/character you don't see in front of the
"name" that you are looking at. And that is what's doing what you see.

Though it is quite unlikely that you missed aspect, but the
"sort by name" sorts folders first, and then it sorts individual
files, both alphabetical among themselves.

So, it is possible that you are seeing two different
alphabetical lists back to back and are thinking that it is not
sorted.
