start button doesnt work right away

the start button on xp takes a while before Im able to use it It will work
once then ill have to wait a couple minutes to use it again I reinstalled
xp as a repair installation but it does the same thing also the programs in
the taskbar have the same problem the program icons on the screen open up
with no problem

Start>Run>Regedit>Navigate to:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

In the right pane select>"MenuShowDelay". Right click>modify and set the
value to 0. Reboot.


Also here: Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced, Startup and Recovery,
System Startup/Time to Display Recovery> set the timeout to 0.

Also:-
Right Click My Computer>Properties>Advanced>Performance>Settings and
Disable:

Fade or slide menus into view
Fade or slide ToolTips into view
Fade out menu items after clicking
Show Shadows under menus
Slide open combo boxes
Slide taskbar buttons
Use a background image for each folder type
Use common tasks in folders

Also update video driver.
