Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools query

Today I decided to create a desktop shortcut to Microsoft's Character Set. I
had no problem on my old computer running WinXP Home SP3. I clicked on Start
| All Programs | Accessories | System Tools, and it was there--along with
eight other programs.

However, when I tried to do the same on my new laptop running WinXP Pro SP3,
all I could find under System Tools was Internet Explorer--No Add-Ons. Any
idea of where all the other System Tools are?

Thank you!

Hi Jo-Anne,

Check Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components
and see if those items are checked. Most are in Accessories, but others
are not. If they are checked, uncheck them, OK your way out, then go
back in and re-check them to see if they show up.

Add-ons are usually a term used for browser extensions. These programs
are usually called utilities or applets.

Thank you, Robear! The Kelly's Korner fix worked perfectly. And no, this
isn't the computer with Norton installed.

Thank you, JS! I ended up using the Kelly's Korner fix that Robear linked
to, since it was quicker.

Thank you, Terry! I ended up using Robear's link to Kelly's Korner. That
site has an incredible number of fixes, and
this one worked perfectly.
