Start 15 seconds into song and play across multiple slides

I'm using Powerpoint 2002 on Windows 2000.

I'm trying to insert a song on the first slide, start it 15 second
into the song and have it continue playing across multiple slide
(which each have automatic transition). The symptom I'm experiencin
is the slide show gets stuck at the slide with the song attached t
it.

I insert the song, say Yes to playing automatically, and then set th
Stop Playing option to Stop playing after 5 slides. If I do this an
play the show the song plays across the 5 slides, everything is good.
But as soon as I start monkeying with the 'Start playing' option th
slide show stalls. By which I mean I set it to Start Playing from tim
00:15. I then play the show and the song starts where I tell it too
but the slide never changes to the next slide. The only way to chang
to the second slide is to choose Next TWICE. Even if I set it back t
'From beginning' it doesn't recover, I have to delete the sound effec
and insert it again.

Is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong

IIRC, there is a problem when starting some sounds partway through the
sound (as you're seeing). Best suggestion I have is to edit the sound in
sound editing software to trim off the first part, then reinsert into
PPT and play from the beginning.
