Staples=Stupid

Did a stupid thing last night. Was in Big Lots (kind of like a brick-
and-mortar Overstock.com for those of you who've never heard of them)
and happened to spy something I'd been intrigued by (read wanted but
didn't need)-a Lexmark Z1300 printer-for all of $22. Well, you know
the rest of *that* story.

Anyway, I get home and go online to find out the best place to pick up
the Lexmark 34 and 35 cartridges-or suitable third-party replacements-
my new pet will eat. None of that half-filled-at-the-factory "return
program cartridge" nonsense for yours truly. Seems like Staples would
be the best place for both-$52 for the OEM pair or compatibles for
around $5 less. So...off to Staples after work, where I'm greeted by
a price tag of *seven dollars more* for the OEMs and the compatibles
available only as two separate purchases-they don't stock the
multipack- for practically just as much. I kindly ask why the
disparity and am met with much hemming and hawing, but no real
answers.

Well, does Staples let them "work with" the customer with regard to
the price in this situation? Umm...no.

Nice going, Staples. Enjoy paying your staff to dust off the
cartridges I left hanging on your hooks-and won't be back for since
there was an Ink Stop on the way home that had the compatibles for
only slightly more than your online price-without the hassle of having
to get them delivered.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only stupid person in the world.

I think they do it so you'll feel grateful when they offer s sale coupon.
My reaction to their overpricing was the same, and I threw away a
perfectly good coupon because i refused to play their game, and haven't
bought ink there since.

Read the Target ad each week. Once in a while they feature 10-15% off on
Canon. Office Depot has mailed 10% off ink coupons too, but I don't know
it their prices are higher or not.

Lexmark is worth using Staples ink.

I don't have much to add but $59 plus tax for a pair of OEM
cartridges!?!? DAMN! I think I'll go pet my Canon printers that use
BCI-6 cartridges that I can buy for $1.59 each.

That is much more than it is worth.
