Standy By Feature

On occassion I'll use the standyby feature rather than
logging off or shutting down the system. Over 50% of the
time I've had problems in that my system either freezes
or I find lines across the screen indicating that the
system did not turn on (or continue)properly. When I
use this feature it is overnight most of the time, only
to find that I have to do a manuel shutdown and reboot
because it freezes. What may be causing the freezing and
or the system to not be working properly on the XP Pro?
 
You have some hardware (or hardware driver) that is not compliant with the
new Advanced Configuration Power Interface specification. (ACPI) This is a
common issue. You can try to locate updated drivers for your hardware,
including things like video card and sound card, or you can stop using
Standby (like I do), and use hibernate instead.
