Standby Vs. Hybernation

Does someone know the difference between standby and hybernation?

Standby: System components go to "low power state." Contents of memory are
retained in RAM.

Hibernate: System writes contents of RAM to hard drive (hiberfil.sys file).
Then turns off. When restoring, XP loads first, then the contents of
hiberfil.sys.

IMPORTANT: Do not make hardware changes in between hibernate states.
Instead, power up, shut down normally and then make hardware changes.
