Hybernate doesn't function after adding RAM

I have 2.5 GB of Dual-Channel DDR2 memory (2x 1 GB & 2x 256 MB). ever since
I installed the 2 1 GB chips, I haven't been able to hybernate my machine,
before I had them installed it would work fine, even with more programs
running.

I have an UPS connected, and would like to be able to have my machine
hybernate itself when the battery runs low, which it can't do at the moment.

Is it a design feature/flaw in XP that it won't hybernate with that much
RAM? I almost never sut my PC off, as I have tasks like defrag & scans
(virus, spyware, etc) running over the night.

Yes, hybernate is enabled, and the hybernate file exits on my system (tried
disabling & re-enabling it)
Yes, it shows as a menu item in the shutdown menu (Although it just blanks
the screen for a second, or goes to standby when I try to select it)

More specs are avalible, if needed, but my machine is less than a year old
(parts were special ordered, as I got it before they hit the shelf).

Try moving youre memory cards around on the board. You probably have 4,
1&3 need to be the same as does 2&4,move 1&3 to 2&4,etc....Sometimes
clearing the CMOS on the board does wonders also, disconnect the power,
battery, locate the CMOS pin on board, move it from 1-2 to 2-3 for .45 seconds
or so,then back to 1-2.Replace battery,start computer,reset BIOS to
time,date,etc..

I know for certain I have my memory configured correctly. I'll try
resetting my BIOS (and seeing if there's an update for it).

I still feel that it's a windows thing, but getting in contact with someone
there is nearly impossible

It is a known BUG. Happens when memory becomes fragmented,
and there are not enought blocks for the Hibernate process.

Same thing happened to me when I went from 1GB to 2GB. Never happened
with 1GB.

If nothing else works...do you have a couple gigs contiguous free space?
Defrag the system partition...might help.

Otherwise, maybe the hib file is bad? Try booting to the Recovery Console
(boot from the XP CD and choose the R option) and delete that file. I don't
think you can delete it from the GUI.

Wild guesses, but worth a try.
