Standby Mode

After reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition, when i click
on the start button and click on the power button, only
the restart or shut down option is available. The standby
button is greyed. Also in the power options properties,
under the power buttons in the "advance tab" I do not
have a standby mode option - I understand it should be
there. Anyone able to help? Thanks

Power management features-in particular standby and hibernation-rely on
device drivers that support power management in addition to compatible
hardware. In particular, incompatible video drivers prevent these features
from working. The built-in VGA driver, for example, is a bare-bones driver
that doesn't support power management.
If standby and hibernate don't work, install an updated driver for your
display adapter.
