Standby Mode Problem

I have noticed a problem with XP and the Advanced Power Settings. If you do
not alter the times for turning off the monitor and hdd, and standby times,
when you place the system in standby, it goes to S3 mode (fans and all
hardware shut down.) But if you adjust the times to suit your needs and then
place the system in standby mode, it goes to S1 mode (All fans and hardware
run, except HDD and Monitor.) I've verified this problem by reading several
posts on technical forums, but I haven't heard anything about a fix to this
problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem, or of any patches or
updates?

This may not really be a XP problem, it might be you need to look in your
bios and see if there is a power management section, to adjust them there. I
have in my bios and have it set to it's default. If yours is set to S3 in
your bios, XP may default to that setting? Like I said this may not be a
problem, be aware of any changes made to these settings, by reading the brief
description your bios gives for these settings.
You may not need to make any changes, it's your call.
