Standby mode for win98

I realize this is an XP newsgroup, but did not have any response in the
Win98 newsgroup...so I thought I would try the experts in here...Since we
all probably went thru the 98 system first.

My wife's HP with Win98 refuses to go into
standby mode. The window comes up stating that its going into the standby
mode then freezes. Any help would be appreciated as how to fix the problem.
Otherwise the system still run fine.

go into your system bios and check to see if power
management is disabled... should be enabled by default
